Tangos 1 Elementary School recently held the Supreme Elementary Learner Government (SELG) Election for the School Year 2025-2026. The highly anticipated event took place on February 21, 2025, and saw enthusiastic participation from students in Grades 2 to 6. Each classroom was converted into a voting precinct, where pupils cast their ballots for candidates representing two contesting parties: Partidong Students Promoting Achievements, Responsibility and Knowledge (S.P.A.R.K) and Partidong Students Motivation, Intelligence, Leadership Empowerment (S.M.I.L.E).
With classes shortened on election day, the voting was organized into two sessions. The morning session ran from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., followed by the afternoon session from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Approximately 500 pupils participated in the voting process, using the school’s official ballots to select their preferred candidates for various positions in the student government.
The election process was organized by Beatriz Albos, the Supreme Pupil Government (SPG) Adviser, who led the formation of the two party. Each party was represented by candidates vying for positions such as Mayor, Vice Mayor, and other key roles. Leading up to the election, the candidates participated in a room-to-room campaign, engaging with their fellow students to gather support. Each party was also allotted a designated area to display campaign materials, allowing students to learn more about their candidates and their platforms.
Prior to the election, the candidates had the opportunity to address the school during a special campaign session after the flag-raising ceremony on February 17, 2025. This allowed the candidates to share their goals and aspirations with their peers before the official voting took place.
The election closed at 4:00 p.m. sharp, and the votes were immediately counted. The eagerly awaited results were announced shortly thereafter, revealing the new SELG officers for the School Year 2025-2026.
